Stoytellers, poets, writers and singer/songwriters are invited to perform at the Corner Coffee and Wine Shop on the Square across from the Courthouse in downtown Hayesville. Shop owner, Mary Jo Constantine, manager, Norma Moody and local storyteller, Kanute Rarey, announced the first event of its kind in downtown Hayesville, an Open Mic Night for storytellers, writers and poets and singer/songwriters. The first eight people to sign up for the designated time slots will get to step up to the microphone. Each time slot is five to eight minutes long. Moody described the first night starting with Friday, January 18 at 6 p.m. will be a monthly gathering allowing performers and listeners to hear eight performances each evening each month in the relaxing environment of the corner "coffee shop" over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. And, listening is free. The event is sponsored by the newly formed Mountain Area Storytellers. For more information contact Kanute Rarey at 502-525-7272 or kanutetells@gmail.com.
