Mac Arnold’s musical journey reads like a legendary odyssey through blues and soul history. Beginning with a high school band that included James Brown on piano, he swiftly moved to Chicago, where Muddy Waters recognized his talent instantly. Joining Waters’ band, Arnold contributed to defining the electric blues sound of the late ’60s and early ’70s. Alongside this, he recorded with icons like Otis Spann and John Lee Hooker. Transitioning to Los Angeles, Arnold ventured into television, producing Soul Train and even performing on Sanford & Son. His hiatus from showbiz led him to organic farming before returning to his musical roots in South Carolina. Now, based in Pelzer, he fronts “Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues,” serving up a soulful mix of blues and funk. With a stellar lineup including Austin Brashier, Max Hightower, Rick Latham, and Mike Frost, Arnold continues to carve his legacy in the annals of blues history.
