Tugalo Holler (two-guh-lo haul-ur) is a hard-hitting gospel and bluegrass group from the upstate
of South Carolina. The group focuses on delivering a fun, enthusiastic display of acoustic music
that has pleased audiences from Tennessee to Georgia for over 23 years. Style and song
selections are heavily influenced by Alison Krauss and Union Station, The Lonesome River
Band, Russell Moore & Tyme Out, Ronnie Bowman, and more to produce a sound that has
drawn in fans other musical genres and opened them up to experience one of the greatest of all
forms of music...bluegrass!
‘The Holler’, as some folks call it, strives to produce clean, intriguing music with solid
instrumentation and pure vocals that are always timely and tasteful; from powerful, heart
pounding male vocals, to haunting, gossamer female leads and harmonies the band is able to
formulate a blend of original and standard music that resonates with the Appalachian mountains
that stand watch in the smoky distance.
The band has opened for groups like Mountain Heart, New Found Road, The Dillards, and even
country legend John Anderson as well as numerous radio and television appearances. Group
members are quick to give credit to God for all their blessings and have made it a point over the
years to always be willing to go wherever the Lord sends them.
Group members: Joseph Welborn – Guitar/vocals, Cape Guthrie – Banjo/Dobro/Guitar/vocals, Dennis James – Mandolin, Michael “Porkchop” Branch – Upright Bass, Jessica Hudson – Vocals and looks, Stephen Hudson – Fiddle/vocals/bad jokes
